The Italian webzine writes that "l" and "ll" are "characterized by a bleak, decadent and empathetic cold wave matrix. It's 80's in terms of the pathos expressed, yet it has been reworked with modern components such as Drone."

So where should you listen to the two EPs? "If there is a place where you can fully enjoy Vlimmer, it's, without doubt, a place far from humanity - dirty, sinister. A room where the claustrophobic soul, in all its loneliness, can climb up the walls, a room where all existence seems surreal and empty."
►Raised by Gypsies throws impressive names in the ring: "Vlimmer does what [Depeche Mode and Joy Division] have tried to do but pulls it off so much better." The American cassette website explains: "You want these songs that sound depressing and lyrics that read like a suicide note, but at some point too many of these other artists became so cliche that they really just feel like cartoon versions of themselves now. [...] For me, a lot of this has been somewhat of a mockery, an imitation if you will, up until now, and Vlimmer is actually the real deal."
►prettyinnoise.de from Germany says: "A morbid atmosphere, distorted soundscapes, claustrophobia. It may not be something for anyone. [...] But if it is, you will love 'l' and 'll'" (8,5/10)
►The Sound Of Confusion from the UK writes: "Vlimmer creates a hostile environment with his music, and that makes it quite compelling, a bit like opening a door marked "Do Not Enter" just out of the sheer curiosity to break the rules. ►Subjectivisten.nl from the Netherlands compares Vlimmer on "l" and "ll" to Slowdive, Trisomie21 and Siglo XX, says "It's tailored for the melancholic among us": "There are lots of nostalgic elements, but [Vlimmer] places it in a contemporary setting. [...] The melancholy and tormented emotions drip out of it, it's simply enjoyable. [...] The misty atmosphere which all this is shrouded in makes it all sound pretty mysterious."
