"Bridging the gap of the modern club culture: the “wave” scene and the lost indie spirit. Beyond words ..." - Last Day Deaf (GRE)

"Highly addictive. An overly cinematic record" - Threshold Magazine (POR)

"Buoyant and absorbing. WLDLFE is a stunning work of musical exploration and harmonious creativity. - 8.4/10" - Complex Distractions (USA)

"You gotta hear it in one sitting. It's so good. It goes in many different directions. It's such an enjoyable record." - Norman B / Life Elsewhere (USA)

"Bloody well-executed piece of work", "a lovely fusion between chilled retro-wave and dreamish ambient electro-pop", "tries something new with the nostalgic synth-formula." - Kalteldur (DEN)

"Overwhelmingly rich and elegant", "it's a very refined electronic instrumental album that is able to stimulate contrasting sensations and emotions in the listener's soul and manages to touch our soul deeply," - Ver Sacrum (ITA)

"Hangs perfectly in the balance between the warmth of the melodies and the surgical coldness of electronic rhythms [...] An entrancing dream-like state." - WhiteLight/WhiteHeat (ITA)

"Creates an electronic symphony which is not only difficult to rival amongst its peers (other electronic artists) but just other musicians in general. If you're one of those "I don't really listen to electronic music" people, let "WLDLFE" be your exception." - Raised by Gypsies (USA)

"The music shimmers and shines, the soundtrack to a night-flight along the Amazon perhaps." - SWIT (IRE)

"A refreshingly different sound. In 45 minutes [Thiago Desant] shows a varied kaleidoscopic mix of synth wave, dark ambient, dream pop, synth pop and chill wave. The man has a special style. Much more important is that this produces great music." - De Subjectivisten (NL)

"Crystalline and noir [...] both lightly whimsical and forebodingly shadowy" - The Record Stache (USA)

"A lush but dark listen, with synths that have a beautiful but melancholy shine to them and evocative melodies." - Norman Records (UK)

"Total inner satisfaction" - Underdog Fanzine (GER)

"Sparkling with a light effervescence" - The Big Takeover (USA)

"Great electronic textures" - Propuesta Cultural (MEX)

Brazilian multi-artist Thiago C. Desant operates under the moniker of Phantoms vs Fire, and, with “WLDLFE”, he creates a full, deep, mostly electronic sound, yet manages to create a sound as if someone was playing traditional, unplugged instruments in your room. It is a breathtaking instrumental album that offers a wide range of moods and colours: from playful, palmy arrangements to opulent, darker, orchestral sounds.
During the writing process Desant recognized that many tracks started optimistically, then turning into something darker. Eventually, he discovered a leitmotif, the current state of our natural environment and how we treat it -- the beauty of nature and the people destroying it. Certainly, an emotional topic, and the music transports that powerfully.
The pumping beat in the opener “Plastic Animals” might be misleading to the listener without patience. Wait for the hazy, tropical synth sounds to take your hand, leading you into a faraway forest in which more and more deer appear from behind the trees to welcome you in their enchanted circle. Sometimes similar to the sound aesthetics of Boards of Canada -- not retro, yet yearning for a hunch of romantic apocalypse. The cinematic touch shouts for feature films including spring time footage; the ethereal character will appeal to dream poppers, even without whispering voices
