"Milestone [...] The two most beautiful and complete EPs composed by Alexander up to now. [...] Every single track contains the aura of what was previously produced, but enhancing its effectiveness. Songs that indelibly mark the style of Vlimmer." - Ver Sacrum (ITA)
"The latest double release has become a quantum leap in songwriting and arrangement complexity. [...] There is a lot of pop appeal and - I can hardly believe it: commercial potential." - RRRsoundZ (GER)
"Alexander [...] is the most interesting and transversal songwriter of the derivational darkwave scene. [Not only for his] high and constant quality [he] deserves the utmost attention. [...] Easily overcomes the boundaries of dark music [...] Undoubtedly one of the most interesting dark sounds of the past three years." - DarkRoom Magazine (ITA)
"Future wave [...] The way that Vlimmer manages to balance the old with the new is why you should be listening to this." - Raised By Cassettes (USA)

"An inventive pair of EPs that seamlessly combine a variety of genres into a cohesive and evocative whole." - Bliss Aquamarine (UK)
"The rapid stream of consciousness turns out to be a concatenation of desire and delusion, fantasy and fear, being and make-believe. A trepidation that defies any rationality and breaks free." - Lie in the Sound (GER)
"Future wave [...] The way that Vlimmer manages to balance the old with the new is why you should be listening to this." - Raised By Gypsies (USA)
"XI and XII show the versatility of one man alone. Light and dark, black and white, Vlimmer gets away with everything." - Dark Entries (BEL)
"A very disturbing atmosphere." - VISIONS Magazin (GER)
"A glimmer of hope [as] bait" - Artnoir - Musik Magazin (SWI)
"Disturbing and at the same time fascinating blend of post-punk, electronica and shoegaze: Should inspire fans of The Cure, A Place To Bury Strangers and Kraftwerk equally." - Tonspion (GER)
"Remains an interesting formation in this music genre with an extra and personal touch on top. [...] It has something refreshing and still old-school driven like the fusion between past and present."" - Side-Line Magazine (BEL)

PRESS on "XIII/XIIII":
"Yet another demonstration of a superior talent and inspiration, from an artist able to mold all the most attractive drifts of the dark sound in his own image and likeness. Really uncommon both in the darkwave scene and in today's musical scene." - Darkroom Magazine (ITA)
"Incredibly bleak in the most enchanting way. Vlimmer songs are so individual that you would recognize them among thousands" - NEØLYD (GER)
"Donat has carved out a niche as one of modern coldwave’s most prolific and impressive artists." - Norman Records (UK)
"Vlimmer is a kind of sonic chameleon which is experimenting with different influences. This EP is probably one of the most recommended ones to discover Vlimmer." - Side-Line Magazine (BEL)
"Darkly disturbing cold wave [that] shows [Vlimmer's] usual excellent ear for a tune" - Super World Indie Tunes (IRE)
"The EPs comprise an innovative, multifaceted set of sounds held together by a dark aesthetic." - Bliss Aquamarine (UK)
"This album is a synthesizer-driven take on newwave/goth which manages to tread in familiar territory without seeming derivative." - Issues Magazine (USA)
"Confirming the good things done previously, and considerably strengthening the appeal of this extremely long-lived and active project. Test passed again, which is far from obvious." - Ver Sacrum (ITA)
"Apocalyptically feverish dark gaze which twitches hypnotically in the listener's brain" - Tonspion (GER)
" [Vlimmer] has discovered and processed electro-pop in the process of working and maturing, yet (still) producing bizarre sound images that permeate. Hectic and contemplation are mingled in an extreme way." - Underdog Fanzine (GER)
"Where some people sleepwalk, he seems to be making music while sleeping, because where else do you get so much nocturnal beauty?" - De Subjectivisten (NL)
"Rich texture made up of distorted, industrial, even syncopated soundscapes from which melody is managing to ‘sneak’ out! The sound has enviable depth and the production provides space for each of the elements, to be enjoyed and appreciated." - Blaue Rosen (UK)
"Extraordinary darkgaze" - VOLT.Magazin (GER)
"Able to bend and shape both darkwave and coldwave sounds to suit individual tracks’ purposes"

PRESS on "XIIIII":
"Portraits of fantastic darkness have always been impressively composed by Vlimmer. Yet, true greatness does not lie in the genius of a moment, but in the constancy of what matters.
In the case of Vlimmer it is walking on the narrow line right on the self-imposed boundaries. "XIIIII" does not push it further; it moves closer to the outside again - yet, it's always there, not leaving the path. And so "XIIIII" turns out to be another piece of evidence that Vlimmer consistently adheres to his own idea." - NEØLYD (GER)
"Their most expansive and accessible release to date. A reflective and bruised Chameleon in all the imperious majesty." - The Sunday Experience (USA)
"Irresistible slice of dark indie pop" - SWIT (IRE)
"The result is undoubtedly elegant, with tracks able to capture from the first listen. The artist's maturation, now more than ever, is incisively claimed. You should absolutely listen to this." - Ver Sacrum (ITA)
"A thunder in the heart. The songs alone are an emotional manifest, a tremendous pressure like a call from within. One of the most peculiar and indeed poetic releases in 2019." - Noise Journal (GRE)
"A successful mixture of guitar post-punk, dark wave reflections, dark pulses of cold wave, and even synth pop. Too much? Not for Vlimmer's style, which joins this diversity into an ear-friendly whole. Beautiful and only possible in the "underground." - Wave Press (POL)
"Vlimmer invites us to enter his world of mourning - erasing feelings of sadness with his spectral energy. An attractive sound, easy to hear and full of dreamy atmospheres." - Threshold Magazine (POR)
"Vocals lost in isolation, painstakingly search for answers, amid the dark, charming allure of zither strings woven into delicate, shimmering chimes dripping daring melodies amid sad, breathlessly sweeping synth surrenders." - White Light / White Heat (ITA)
"Notable music in 2019" - Sumnus (MEX)
"The silence is broken by the deafening chanting of black-wing angels chanting an ultimate psalm" - Last Day Dead (GRE)
"Vlimmer continues to push the boundaries of genres and defies expectations with every release." - Subculture Shock (USA)
"With plaintive vocals in the style of The-Cure singer Robert Smith and gothic sounds à la Clan Of Xymox, Alexander Donat aka Vlimmer sets out on an unusual musical quest for a identity. [...] Sounds like" Dark ", the series. " - Tonspion (GER)

It's uncanny just how good Actors is at emulating that Post-Punk synth sound from my younger days.
Each listen just gets better and better. I feel slightly ashamed for not having heard this album until a few short days ago. modestwriggles

Yet another masterpiece from this great band, it was difficult to choose a favorite track from this album, since every track is a hit as far as I'm concerned. This band just keeps getting better and better. ghaseloff
“Strangers” is packed with wonderfully menacing electro-goth—late-night horror movie music for vampire dance parties. Bandcamp New & Notable May 8, 2023
Perfectly gloomy Norwegian goth/post-punk, anchored by a punchy rhythm section and driven by chiming guitar lines and morose vocals. Bandcamp New & Notable Feb 16, 2021
